How to Throw a Leslie Knope-Approved Galentine’s Day Brunch

We all know and Love that memorable holiday where we celebrate love with our significant other, shower others with sentimental declarations of love. That Day is Valentine's Day, but have you heard of the Day we celebrate our friendship? Let me give you the history of Galentine Day.

"For others, a far more exciting event takes precedence – Galentine's Day, which falls on 13 February every year. As the name would suggest, Galentine's Day is a celebration of female friendship.

The term was popularized following the release of a 2010 episode of sitcom Parks and Recreation.

Leslie Knope, played by Amy Poehler, explains its meaning while throwing an annual Galentine's Day bash for her friends."Galentine's Day has become popular in recent years, with a growing number of women, both single and in relationships, using the Day to acknowledge their female friendships' strength, Galentine’s day is the perfect excuse to go all out with your best girlfriends and celebrate your love for each other! Make it a fun day full of bright pink and pinker colors, with a bunch of laughs and taking some cute pictures for Instagram, of course.

Let me show you how to celebrate this unique little holiday. I’m going to show you how to Host the ultimate Galentine’s Brunch.

You should have a theme to go along with your Brunch. For my Galentine’s Brunch, my party theme was the Golden Girls. Who else do you know that was the best of friends?

Have a Color scheme. On Galentine’s Day, we wear Pink. I sent out an invitation and told the ladies that the dress code was Light pink or Dark Pink.

Get all decked out: It is a theme party, so all my décor was in Bright pink colors. Again, my theme was Golden Girls, the true Bestie. So, my tablecloth, plates and napkin, and cupcake cover were all about the Golden Girls. I also had dark pink and gold silverware. It was plastic but no one knew it. I also added a Rose Gold Party Decorations Pink Balloon Glitter Bokeh Photo Backdrop to my wall.

Select your Entertainment: For my party we listen to ole school music, talked about our relationships, and just had good old girl talk. Food: For my menu, it was a southern Brunch with a twist. My Hubby was the best chef. He helps me with the food menu and cook’s half of the food. What did we make?

  • Shrimps and Grits

  • Maple Bourbon Bacon

  • Scrambled Cheese Eggs

  • Oven Baked Salmon

  • Mini Crab Cake

  • Twice Cooked Lobster

  • French Toast Casserole

  • Fresh Fruits

  • Breakfast Potatoes

Drinks and Dessert Bar: For my Brunch, I set my dining room area for my cocktails and yummy Dessert and candies. Since my party colors are pink, I had Rose’s Wine. Made a cocktail drink for the ladies, named it a Pink Senorita, they Key ingredient is Tequila and Pink Lemonade. So, since I made a tequila drink is only right that we take Tequila Shots. I had set up a Patron shot area with Grapefruits and spicy seasoning to go along with the shot. For my dessert bar. I had some adult candies. I made a Charcuterie board with M&M, Dark raspberries chocolate, lots of chocolate, and heart shape Lolli pops. I also had cookies, mini donuts and what a Golden Girl Theme Brunch without having Cheesecake.

Prep your party favors: Send your besties home with a Galentine's Day gift: For the ladies who brunch with me, I gave them a little gift box, Golden Girls, of course. Inside of their gift box, since it's COVID-19, I gave them something useful and safe. A $25.00 Uber Eats Gift Card, Since many of us are staying at home more and a lot of our restaurants are still close. Hand sanitizer and a keyring so you do not have to touch doors and handle. Everything was a thoughtful gift and useful for my friends. So, think of a gift that your friends can use.
