I wanted to have a comfort meal after a long week at work, and on top of having a long day at work, I went home every day checking off rooms to finish organizing and tidying up for my Spring Cleaning.

One thing is for sure; this dish goes well with just about anything! If you are looking to upgrade the way you cook your green beans, you are in the right place. This Green Bean Recipe is a simple but tasty way to make your green beans. I swear you will be thanking me later. Every one of my friends that I shared this recipe tells me that their family only wants them to make their green beans this way.

If you are not a person who likes spicy foods, you can use half the crushed Peppers measurement, or you can just eliminate it all together from the recipe. I know people made it without the crushed peppers, and it still comes out unique If you want to make this a healthy dish, you can also eliminate the butter. You can never go wrong with making sauteed vegetables.

Equipment Needed:

Skillet– You will need a large skillet or non-stick frying pan to Sautee the green beans.

Wooden Spoon– just a regular wooden spoon will do for stirring.

Fork-You can use a regular dinner fork for testing the tenderness of the beans.

The Ingredients:

  • 2 Cup Green Beans– Edges trimmed of, patted dry, and sautéed.

  • ½ Cup Garlic-Minced and sauteed with the green beans.

  • 1 TBSP Crushed Pepper– Adds spice to the dish.

  • ½ Sea Salt– Brings out the flavors of the other ingredients.

  • ½ Lemon Pepper Seasoning, add a zesty flavor to the dish.

  • ½ Granulated Onion Brings all the flavors together.

  • 1 TBSP Olive Oil – Combined with the olive oil and used to sauté the greens beans.

  • 2TBSP Unsalted Butter Everything Is better with butter.

The Instructions

Rinse and dry the green beans, the cut off the ends.

Place your beans in a pot of boiling water for two or three minutes, then remove from the water and immediately plunge them into some water with ice cubes to stop the cooking process, dry, then proceed with sauteing. Firstly, this will kill any bacteria present on the beans and soften them up, thus reducing cooking time by about half.

Once the green beans have been washed, use a paper towel to dab off all the water until they are dry. This will prevent having excess moisture in the pot while sautéing the beans.

Heat up your Skillet, Add Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Unsalted Butter

Add your String Beans to the Skillet

Stir in the minced garlic, sea salt, pepper, granulated onion, and lemon Pepper Seasoning and cook for another 13 minutes until a fork can easily go through the green beans.

Storage Tips

To store this side dish, you must first allow it to cool off at least an hour, then transfer it into an airtight container, then refrigerate it within an hour after cooling to prevent the growth of bacteria. This will last for about 4-5 days in the fridge. They can also be frozen for more extended storage up to 2 weeks max.
